“No Nonsense” Music Player

First the download link. ( < 500KB )

Description from author : Billy is a lightweight no nonsense audio player that allows you to quickly play an entire directory of MP3 files. It is an audio player that allows you to quickly play an entire directory of MP3 files. It can usually load files 2 to 8 times faster than Winamp or Media player. It plays music albums without any gaps between tracks, so an overlapping applause or beat will continue. The player is 100% controllable by keyboard and its easy finder and special rename functions help you to find and organize your files quickly.

In my opinion Billy contains just what you need. It doesn’t feature tagging, equalizer, skins. But if you just want to listen to music without caring for all those details, Billy is the player you need. Especially for gamers, you can avoid the fps drop while the songs are changed, and the memory requirements for the executable is very less.

So if you just want to listen to music, while working, playing FPS games and don’t care about tagging and glossy skins i would suggest billy. Only bad thing about it is that it doesn’t support wma as yet.

Does it have any feature to manage queue from a playlist? I mean I don’t want my playlist to be the queue.

nope, you cannot.. Q and playlist are not different in this case. You will need to make new playlist for that.
Actually you can!, Extremely sorry about that mistake.. I normally make playlists and i haven’t used billy after i left playing CS.

    From the article:
“But if you just want to listen to music without caring for all those details, Billy is the player you need.”

I think the point is very clear: it may suit certain kinds of people, and it was obviously made to suit those kinds of people. You are not obliged to use it.

arre itna serious reply :S:S.. wht i meant was, having an equalizer is one the most most basic need a music player..if u say “In my opinion Billy contains just what you need.”, it should include equalizer too..

not make a generic statement like urs truly pointed out and then hide all ur shortcomings under that..”

foobar, mediamonkey and winamp are quite good..
foobar is lighter then the others and you can always use plugins for extra stuff.
only problem is while changing tracks in most players they take lots of resources, and if you are playing a game.. you can see noticeable drop in FPS at times.

waise i never use an qualizer.. it’s always default (i use mediamonkey most of the times)
